Boracay Island is a home to the Ati indigenous community.

Apr 2, 2022

Boracay Island is home to the Ati indigenous community.

The Ati are an ethnic group in the Visayas, the central portion of the Philippines. Their small numbers are principally concentrated in the islands of Boracay, Panay, and Negros. The Atis is one of the tribes that were the aboriginal (or first) inhabitants of the Philippine archipelago. They are often marginalized in today’s society, much the same as many indigenous peoples around the world.

Today, our Project REDEEM: Rice provision, Education on Disease and Efficient Emergency management was brought to the Ati community. It was participated by its youth members and mothers. They were oriented about planning, preparing, and responding when emergencies and disasters come. CPR skills were also practiced. With the support of Rose CGI, we turned over 300 kilos of rice, hygiene kits, and pieces of bread.

Thanks to Ms.Rona and her Red Cross team of volunteers.

Special thanks to our sponsor, the Gary and Madoka Foundation.

About Robert

I am a Canadian living in Japan and the Philippines for more than 40 years. After surviving the tsunami in Phuket, Thailand, in December 2004, I decided it was finally time to act on a long held desire to do something for the children of the area who have less available to them in terms of health care, shelter and education. I have established a non profit organization that helps care for these needs of some children. I sincerely thank those who would like to contribute to the cause in any way, please email us at: info@rosecgi.org
